THE BOSTON CENTER FOR THE ARTS GETS A FACELIFT

Client: Boston Center for the Arts (BCA)
What: Full Window Restoration: 238 Windows
When: June 2007 through October 2007
Where: Tremont Estates Building, 539 Tremont St. Boston
How: Building Restoration Services enlisted the use of aerial lifts and meticulous craftsmanship.

EVALUATION
There are no shortcuts that can be taken when undergoing a complete window restoration project. Every window sash was carefully removed from the building and transported to Building Restoration Services’ restoration factory. BCA_window_before.jpg

All of the windows were individually evaluated; in this project, windows from the rear of the building were in better condition because they were shielded from the elements.

RESTORATION:

Rot, chips and cracks were meticulously repaired using epoxy.  Broken glass and warped wood was replaced, and every window was professionally sealed and painted.

BCA_window_after.jpgRestoring one window can take up to three days from start to finish.

If an original window had un-repairable damage, BRS built an exact replica of the window to replace it.

During the installation and finishing process masonry repair was done to the surrounding bricks and mortar to repair weather damage and decay.
